Lynne Hoffman--Profile

I grew up in Danville, Virginia, and after college, I returned home to marry and begin my teaching career. I have taught English, Public Speaking, Theatre Arts, Journalism—sponsoring newspapers and yearbooks, and Technology grades 6-12 for 35 years. For 15 years, I maintained a school network, taught technology, and served as curriculum planner for the Advanced Communications and Networking strand at Galileo Magnet High School. I have a B.A. in English Literary Studies from Davis & Elkins College and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Lynchburg College. I have been an adjunct instructor of English at Averett University and a technology instructor at Danville Community College. Also I worked part-time for 4 years at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research teaching technology in the outreach program. My favorite pastime is traveling to see my family. My younger daughter and her husband live in Stockholm, Sweden. My older daughter and her husband from Venezuela live in Chicago.

I am a Verizon Thinkfinity Community Host, a member of the Virginia Thinkfinity Leadership Team, and a Senior Trainer for the Intel® Essentials Course and the Intel® Thinking with Technology Course. I have written several technology manuals and taught over 150 technology workshops.

My avocation is music--spending time playing the piano, guitar, keyboard, and autoharp. I am a part-time pianist for Shelton Memorial Presbyterian Church. My other hobbies include biking, hiking, swimming, dancing, and a new venture--frisbee golf.
